What drew you to Massage therapy?
I’ve worked in College athletics for 12 years and use Medical massage to help athletes recover from workouts, injuries and pre/post surgical repair. There’s different tools and techniques for different situations, stages of healing and phases of training. Helping athletes navigate their mobility, balance and muscle health has given them an advantage when performing. Supporting them through their journey is as unique as the athlete. Helping athletes learn their body and how to maintain mind-body balance is the best part!
What type of massage do you specialize in?
Sports Massage: recovery, restoring balance from physical compensations. Tools like cupping, TCM Scraping/Graston/Gua Sha, Thera-gun, Compression therapy, Kinesiology tape, Concussion care (Head & neck mobility) Scar tissue & active release/trigger point.
Why did you choose this type of massage?
Within Athletics muscle health and recovery can enhance performance, decrease injury and help with body awareness to prevent compensations and chronic imbalances. I want to support athletes through their training & help them perform at their optimal level.
How do your talents benefit your patients?
I help people bridge the gap between injury and activity. I have a unique approach and my background in gymnastics that allows me to help clients find balance mentally & physically. I also “coach” while doing body work to initiate breath work, joint mobility & release stress for improved sleep & posture.
What is your favorite health tip to give your patients?
If you’re balanced left to right, top to bottom & inside out, your mind body connection will be so strong that your performance will elevate naturally and gracefully. Healing can be hurtful & helpful at the same time & that’s ok.
What is your favorite hobby outside of work?
Surfing & teaching gymnastics.
What would you tell a patient that is nervous about getting their first massage?
You’ll sleep better & just like you give your car a tune up, fill it with gas and change the oil; our bodies need maintenance & self care to keep it running well. Massages are not selfish, the self- care you gift to yourself allows you to show up better for yourself, your family, your friends and the activities you love.
